Prediction of Body Weight from Linear Body Measurements in Kashmiri (Kashir) Goat

Background: Kashmiri (Kashir) goat is nondescript and highly variable, medium sized, genetic resource of Kashmir. The possessing excellent survivability distributed in Kashmir valley. In Jammu Kashmir, Gujjars Bakerwals have adopted the sheep rearing as their primary occupation. Body weights at different ages life cycle animals are important traits owing to direct relation with farmers income. Methods: Data on body weight measurements viz ear length (EL), (BL), height wither (BH), chest girth (CG) tail (TL) 162 adult Kasmiri goats, irrespective gender, were collected from Febuary 2019 January 2020 estimate measurements. data subjected standard statistical analysis using SPSS software. EL TL low. Similarly HW moderate whereas BL significantly high indicating these two can define animal more accurately. Based R2 (coefficient determination) criteria, best model predicting obtained by combination (body length) (chest girth) 0.795. Prediction equation value 0.806 when all included where prediction 0.589 only used independent variable.
